Terry has been working in the biotech tools sector for more than 30 years. Prior to joining Astrea Bioseparations, Terry was most recently CEO of Cambridge based Horizon Discovery PLC, a public company listed on the UK AIM market. He was at Horizon for 4 years prior to it being acquired by Perkin Elmer Corp and has spent the last 6 months ensuring a smooth integration of the business into its new home. Previous roles were VP Global Sales for Pacific Biosciences and lead commercial positions at Genetix PLC, aquired by Danaher Corp., and at the Swedish Biotech company Biacore, acquired by GE. Terry started his career in this sector at Applied Biosystems in 1988 in a regional sales role and rose to VP Europe by 2003. Terry graduated with a degree in Physiology and Biochemistry from Reading University.

Andrew has a strong track record in the financial and operational leadership of international science and technology growth companies. Most recently, Andrew was the CFO of Technetix Group, an international technology business. His previous roles have included CFO of Genetix PLC, a publicly listed business, here he played a key role in the growth, transformation and successful sale of the company to the Danaher Corporation. He also held CFO positions at Cmed Group, an international CRO and the Global Controller of the Clinical Trials and Pharmaceutical Development business of Quest Diagnostics, a fortune 500 company. Andrew is a Chartered Accountant having qualified with Coopers and Lybrand.

Dr. Steve Burton has over 36 years of experience in company management, business development and the development of separation products and processes for the purification of biopharmaceuticals. He has been instrumental in the development of Astrea Bioseparations’ purification products and technologies which are used extensively for commercial manufacture of recombinant and plasma-derived protein therapeutics. Under Dr Burton’s direction, Astrea Bioseparations has grown to become a leading company in its field with a reputation for innovative, high quality/high performance chromatography adsorbents.
Dr. Burton gained his Ph.D. at the University of Cambridge and worked for Delta Biotechnology (now Albumedix) in the UK before joining Astrea Bioseparations in 1988 as a founding member and Research and Development Manager. He has held a variety of roles in the company before his appointment as Chief Scientific Officer in 2021.

Gabe leads global commercial operations and business responsibilities across North America, UK, Europe, and Asia. He also oversees expansion of Astrea Bioseparations’ growing product line in emerging markets. Gabe brings more than 25 years of commercial experience in life sciences and biotherapeutics, developing high performance sales & marketing teams and establishing commercial excellence programs to accelerate profitability and growth; all while championing the customer experience.
Most recently Gabe built a Global Commercial team at Horizon Discovery, a Perkin Elmer company, leading customer-facing operations and strategy, and establishing a performance-driven Key Account program. Prior to Horizon, he held several senior roles focused on commercial acceleration and sales success at Danaher Corporation operating companies Molecular Devices LLC, Leica BioSystems and Genetix Ltd. He also previously held multiple sales, marketing, and product management roles with Ventana Medical Systems Inc., a member of the Roche Group. Gabe was also appointed CCO of Gamma Biosciences in January 2022, and is responsible for commercial strategy and operations across all portfolio companies.

Pippa’s HR career spans over 20 years, operating at the HR Director level for 12 years across international environments, specializing in C-suite and Executive engagement. She has worked across several industry sectors including Financial Services where she was the HR Director for the Liberty Mutual Group; and Life Sciences, where she was the HR Director UK & Ireland for Bristol Myers Squibb, as well as the legal sector and FS Governance. She set up her HR Consultancy in 2019 and has supported many smaller Biotechs in and around Cambridge, obtaining experience and a unique insight into the constantly evolving, innovative and fast-paced environments and cultures that this sector offers. Pippa has worked within highly complex HR environments and managed often challenging and sensitive situations her whole career. She specializes in helping organizations through significant change, such as scaling up, both organizationally and culturally. Pippa is an Occupational Psychologist and an experienced Executive Coach.

While overseeing portfolio strategy and process implementation across the entire Gamma Biosciences portfolio of companies, Steven’s main role is to lead product strategy within Astrea Bioseparations. At Astrea Bioseparations, Steven directs the rapidly growing product management & licensing team with responsibilities for innovation, new product development, go-to-market strategy, commercialization, out-licensing, and overall portfolio health.
Before joining Astrea Bioseparations, Steven was most recently the General Manager for Horizon Discovery’s Research Services business, where he established a best-in-class product & project management team that delivered an industry-leading experience to biotech and pharmaceutical customers working in early drug discovery. Prior to that, he spent his career at Sigma-Aldrich / MilliporeSigma with progressive leadership roles starting in R&D through to marketing, product management, sales, and strategy, where he originated multiple newly developed roles within the organization. Steven holds both scientific and business degrees from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and Lindenwood University.

Marc Hummersone has over 20 years of project and managerial experience in both big and small technology companies, including industry leaders AstraZeneca, General Electric Healthcare & Cytiva. He has a broad experience base across a wide range of technologies including the development of novel chromatographic media for the purification of complex biological feed streams as well as drug discovery and development. He was a key contributor to the development of the Fibro chromatography family of products which resulted in the acquisition of Puridify, by GE Healthcare in 2017. Additionally, he was a key part of the management team who validated the concept of synthetic lethality and who identified and developed Lynparza, which is an approved drug for the treatment of BRCA-mutated advanced ovarian cancer which resulted in the acquisition of KuDOS Pharmaceuticals in 2005, by AstraZeneca. Marc has held positions including Company Director, Chief Scientific Officer and Department Director. He gained a PhD and Post-Doctoral experience in chemistry which was focused on the total synthesis of complex natural products at University College, London.

Gráinne has over 18 years’ experience working in Research and Development in Biotech and Pharma sectors. Gráinne has extensive experience in Protein production and purification and Antibody discovery. Before moving to Astrea Bioseparations, Gráinne was Head of Protein Sciences at Abcam where she was instrumental in the launch of a new product range and managed teams both in New Product Development and Research and Development. Other previous roles include Protein Sciences and Purification Group Leader at Crescendo Biologics, where she established and grew the protein purification capabilities as well as positions at GSK and Domantis. Gráinne has a PhD in Biochemistry from University College Dublin.

Chris is an Experienced chemist and production manager with over 30 years’ experience in chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing. Having started his career working in a research and development laboratory, Chris progressed into large scale manufacturing of fine chemicals and then into Pharmaceutical API manufacturing with Pfizer. He has a degree in Applied chemistry and is a Chartered Manager.
Chris has been with Astrea Bioseparations for over 10 years and is the operations director of their manufacturing sites in the Isle of man, Boston, US and Montreal, Canada. These sites manufacture Astrea Bioseparations’ base media, chromatography adsorbents and pre-packed column products as well as handling global logistics.

Colin has over 20 years management experience in Quality and Regulatory Affairs within the Pharmaceutical and Biotech sector. Having begun his career within Quality Control in GSK he moved into other areas of compliance including Herbal, Small Molecule, ATMP and Human Tissue implementing and maintaining HTA and GMP licenses in a number of sites using a ISO 9001 Quality Management System and associated certifications.
Colin joined Astrea Bioseparations in 2015 to implement and develop a Quality Management System that adheres to GMP for Active Substances, is compliant with ISO 9001:2015 and uses a Lean approach to manufacturing.
