Innovation meets expansion: Scaling up resin manufacturing on the Isle of Man
Published date: 17 November 2025
A new chapter for Astrea Bioseparations on the Isle of Man
Astrea Bioseparations recently marked a major milestone in our Isle of Man operations with the opening of Unit 4, expanding resin manufacturing capacity and advancing sustainable production. The new facility strengthens our ability to meet growing global demand for high-quality chromatography resins while supporting innovation and efficiency at every stage.

Enhancing resin manufacturing capabilities
The addition of multiple ISO 7 cleanrooms, dedicated workstations, and state-of-the-art equipment enhances both throughput and quality assurance. With two new Beaders now operational, Unit 4 contributes an estimated 20,000 L of PuraBead® Edge resin annually, a 60% uplift in total site capacity. A planned second phase will double that output capacity, ensuring we can continue to support customers as demand grows.

Designed for people and process
Unit 4 was designed with our people in mind. The facility includes modern staff amenities and improved materials flow throughout production areas, creating a safe, efficient, and comfortable environment for our team.
Building sustainability into every step
In line with Astrea Bioseparations’ sustainability goals, Unit 4 incorporates energy-efficient systems to minimize environmental impact and optimize operational performance. From smarter resource management to reduced energy consumption, the facility demonstrates our ongoing commitment to responsible growth.
Looking ahead
The opening of Unit 4 marks another step forward in Astrea Bioseparations’ mission to advance bioseparation technologies worldwide. By investing in capacity, people, and sustainability, we’re building the foundation for continued innovation, and ensuring reliable resin supply for biomanufacturers around the globe.
